I see a lot of posts about slow PPTP performance, without a good resolution of the issue. In my case, I have a PPTP link set up across about 200ms of latency. After much googling, I reduced the MTU, disabled "disable packet reordering", disabled SPI, disabled encryption, and got it to a whopping <1/4th of the available bandwidth (<1.5Mbps out PPTP DD-WRT Router Setup Instructions for Giganews VyprVPN
